Vancouver is for everyone. Not just the rich.
My friends are are being priced out of the city. Workers are driving hours a day to save money on rent. Families and artists can't afford to keep this city home. It's getting worse, and at the same time, the richest among us are getting tax breaks and handouts.
No one should have to choose between rent and groceries. No one should be paying over half their income in rent. No one should be sleeping on the streets while houses sit empty. No one should go hungry while unsold food is shoveled into dumpsters.
This is not the result of personal failures. This is the result of political leadership that is putting the needs of the super-rich and well-connected ahead of the rest of us.
The solutions to these problems are not a mystery. The answers to our affordability crisis already exist. We just need people who are willing to fight for what is really needed, unapologetically, and with the drive and dedication required to get real results for people.
That's why I'm running with COPE. It's time to fight back.
We can fight for affordability. Whether it's cheaper groceries, free transit, or rent control- we need a city council who will fight, day after day, to make people's lives easier.
We can fight for the climate. Food recovery, tool libraries, repair cafes, and a circular economy. We have tools to make peoples lives better while at the same time making Vancouver into a leader on climate. We have to name the real problem to address it: the climate crisis is caused by the disproportionate power of the rich.
We can fight for housing. Public affordable housing, co-ops, stronger tenant protections city, and promote dense, walkable, communities near transit without displacement.
We have to fight for what we need.
We have to fight for our neighbours as hard as we’d fight for ourselves.
I'm committed to this fight. If I'm nominated as a COPE candidate for City Council, I will fight every day to amplify social movements, challenge the powerful, and use every tool at our disposal to make the city work for people, not just the rich.
